On scam calls and pop-ups

If a message on your screen tells you to call a number about a virus, it is a scam, without exception. No legitimate company puts a phone number in a warning. Do not call it, and do not let anyone who calls you connect to your machine. If someone already has, disconnect it from the internet and call — that situation is recoverable, and the sooner it is looked at the better.
