Servers, hardware and custom builds

Spec, build, upgrade and repair — servers, SAN and NAS units, workstations and laptops. Parts chosen for the workload rather than for the margin on them.

What this covers

  • Server specification and build, rack or tower
  • SAN and NAS units — build, expansion and drive replacement
  • Memory, storage and component upgrades on existing hardware
  • Workstation and laptop repair, and purpose-built machines for demanding work
  • Diagnosis of failures other people have already given up on
  • Rack build-out, power and cable management

Repair is often the right answer

A five-year-old workstation that feels slow usually needs a drive and memory, not replacing — an hour of work against a purchase order and a day of setup. Sometimes the honest answer is that the machine has reached the end and should be replaced, and you will get that answer too. What you will not get is a new-hardware recommendation because new hardware is easier to sell.

Projects this covers

  • Blade chassis deployment and expansion
  • Server refresh with data and roles migrated across
  • Purpose-built NAS for bulk storage and archive
  • Standardising a mixed workstation fleet
  • Rack build-out with power, cooling and cable management
  • Diagnosis of hardware faults others have given up on

Not sure where to start?

Describe what is happening, or what you are planning. Estimates are free and the first conversation is with the engineer who would do the work — not a salesperson working from a script.
